Leverage Finance

Problem & Opportunity: The rapid growth of leverage finance deals in the market highlighted a critical need for specialized analytics tools. This gap posed a significant threat to our product's position as the go-to solution for investment bankers.
Hypothesis: By developing a dedicated data analytics tool tailored to the specific needs of leverage finance bankers, we could not only regain existing users but also attract new business.
My role: As the sole UX Designer on the project, I played a pivotal role in shaping the overall design direction. I collaborated closely with the Product Owner and Product Manager to define the problem, generate innovative ideas, and validate our assumptions throughout the development process.
Research and ideation
Stakeholder interviews: To kickstart the project, we conducted in-depth interviews with key stakeholders, including the Loans Product Director, Loans Research Manager, and our new CEO. Leveraging the CEO's unique perspective as a former client, we gained valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by investment bankers when evaluating leverage finance deals.
Personas: Following the interviews, we refined our understanding of the target user: a seasoned Leverage Finance Banker who requires up-to-date market intelligence to capitalize on emerging opportunities swiftly.
Ideation: To foster collaboration and generate innovative solutions, I facilitated several whiteboard sessions with the team. During these brainstorming sessions, we collectively explored potential solutions for the specific challenges we had identified earlier. Additionally, we meticulously documented the use cases associated with each proposed solution.
Solution
Solution: To address the identified challenges, we developed a prototype that seamlessly integrated into the daily workflow of Leverage Finance Bankers. The design incorporated visually engaging elements, including unconventional graphs and charts, to elicit feedback on alternative visualization approaches.
Validation: Our team conducted client demonstrations of the prototype, receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback. These insights proved invaluable in supporting Client Services teams during pitches and securing new business deals.
Delivery: While the final product did not adhere strictly to the original design, the development team successfully incorporated many of the key learnings and concepts. A modular framework was implemented, utilizing pre-existing components, but the core functionalities, including the personalized opportunity pipeline and enhanced pitch management tools, were successfully integrated into the platform's homepage, benefiting all banking personas.
